Leeds in talks to sign Omobamidele in £10m loan-to-buy after what Farke said

Leeds United have opened talks with Nottingham Forest to sign Andrew Omobamidele during the January transfer window, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reported via their website on 4 January that discussions are ongoing over a loan deal that could include a guaranteed buy clause, with Forest keen to bag £10million for the centre-back.

Sheffield United are also in the mix to sign the 22-year-old, but prefer a straight loan deal, whereas the Whites view him as a long-term investment.

Daniel Farke is keen for a reunion with Omobamidele after giving him his Premier League debut in Norwich’s 1-0 loss against Arsenal on 11 September 2021, after which he dubbed him “outstanding”.

Leeds United looking to bring Andrew Omobamidele to Elland Road

Leeds currently have three senior centre-backs in their ranks – Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon and Max Wober, while Ethan Ampadu can step in when needed.

With Wober linked with a move away from Elland Road [Salzburger Nachrichten], it appears Farke is keen to add competition in the position for the second half of the season.

The West Yorkshire outfit leaked three goals in the trip to Hull City on Saturday (4 December) and those are the things they need to avoid to prevent any slip-ups in the promotion race.

Therefore, it is easy to see why Farke’s side have opened talks with Forest over a deal for Omobamidele and perhaps even agree to pay £10m in the future.

The Ireland international has found playing time hard to come by at Forest, with his only first-team appearance this season coming in their EFL Cup defeat against Newcastle in August.

Farke could be the right man to bring his career back on track, having given him his top-flight debut.
