With the midfielder's career at the Etihad Stadium over, a reputable Man City insider has broken news of the potential transfer.

The deal to bring Phillips back to Leeds could cost as little as £10million as the Yorkshire club return to the Premier League.

Phillips to reignite stuttering career at Leeds

There is no question that Phillips has endured a tough couple of years on the pitch.

Once an England regular, the 29-year-old's career has faltered after moving to Man City for £50million in 2022.

Of course, the step up to Pep Guardiola's side was always going to be a challenge, and challenging it has been.

Phillips has tried to find a spark to reignite his form, but loan spells at West Ham and Ipswich have failed to do so.

Now, the Englishman seems set to return to his boyhood club in a bid to keep them in the Premier League.

That move could be just what Phillips needs to save his career in front of supporters who adore him.
