Leeds get Peretz response in new goalkeeper transfer hunt

Leeds United, Burnley and PSV Eindhoven are all linked with a move to sign Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz.

Given Illan Meslier’s wretched performances, the Whites are eyeing a new first-choice keeper this summer.

Having secured promotion to the Premier League, a reliable pair of hands will give them a better chance of avoiding relegation.

PSV lead the race to sign Peretz

According to Christian Falk (29 May), PSV Eindhoven are the side leading the race to sign the 24-year-old.

Burnley are understood to be pushing hard in order to secure his services ahead of the Dutch side.

Leeds are said to still be in contention to sign Peretz while Genoa are also showing an interest.

Meslier could leave Elland Road this summer and even if he stays, the club are keen on adding to their goalkeeping ranks.

Leeds must look to pursue Peretz’s transfer at all costs

Peretz is an ideal signing for Leeds as they return to the Premier League in 2025/26.

Likened to Iker Casillas for his shot-stopping and penalty-saving prowess, the German offers a modern goalkeeper profile with excellent distribution, crucial for Farke’s possession-based system.

Despite limited game time at Bayern, his 44 clean sheets in 102 games for Maccabi Tel Aviv and strong performances for Israel against top teams like France show his potential.

As Bayern want him out, he might be available on the cheap, providing a cost-effective, high-upside option.

Conversely, Meslier’s high-profile errors, including costly mistakes against Sunderland and Hull, led to his benching for Karl Darlow during Leeds’ Championship title run-in.

The Frenchman’s contract, expiring in 2026, and inconsistent form make him unreliable for the Premier League’s demands.

Darlow, at 34, performed admirably with four clean sheets in seven games but lacks the long-term reliability and modern attributes Farke requires.

Peretz’s youth, skill set, and hunger for minutes make him a strategic fit to solidify Leeds’ defence.
