Leeds eye shock January transfer for Celtic star who is one of ‘most promising’ stars in Scotland
Leeds United have their eyes fixed firmly on Celtic as they eye up potential reinforcements in the January transfer window.
The Whites are hovering precariously above the Premier League relegation zone at the 10-game mark, with West Ham’s victory over Newcastle on Sunday an unwelcome development for them.
Leeds were beaten 3-0 away at Brighton this weekend, in a concerning display that saw them outclassed by Fabian Hurzeler’s side.
Daniel Farke will know that significant reinforcements are needed this winter, and the West Yorkshire outfit already have their eyes on one particular talent from north of the border.

Leeds are tracking Celtic star Sebastian Tounekti
Leeds are eyeing up Norwich star Josh Sargent with a view to making a move in January, and the American is far from the only attacking talent that is being tracked at Elland Road.
The quality in the final third has been the major issue for the newly-promoted side so far, with only Nottingham Forest and Wolves having scored fewer than their nine league goals this term.
Leeds appear to be working hard to address their attacking options ahead of the winter window, and they are now closely monitoring Celtic star Sebastian Tounekti, according to Maghreb Foot.
- Tounekti has two goals from 11 games for Celtic so far this season
- He notched eight goal contributions from 21 games for Hammarby in their 2025 campaign
- The 23-year-old has four senior caps for Tunisia, having previously represented Norway at youth level
Farke and Co. are keen to make a move for the winger, even though he only joined the Scottish giants from Hammarby at the end of the summer window.
Tounekti’s “blistering pace” has already seen him become a major threat for the Bhoys, and he has two goals to his name so far this season in all competitions.
The Tunisia international is said to have established himself as one of the “most promising” young stars in Scottish football, and he could soon be on his way to Elland Road if Leeds get their way.

Glen Kamara was the last player to join from the Scottish Premiership
Glen Kamara became a key figure for Leeds after he joined from Rangers ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, and he is actually the last first-team player to move to LS11 from the Scottish Premiership.
The Finland international was a key player during his one season in West Yorkshire, before he was surprisingly sold to Rennes in the summer of 2024
With that in mind, it could certainly be argued that Leeds’ pursuit of Tounekti comes as something of a shock, given that Scottish football is not an avenue that they have regularly explored with their recruitment in recent years.
However, if Tounekti could come in and have a similar impact to the one that Kamara had, there would undoubtedly be few complaints from anyone at Elland Road.
