Leeds could be tempted into shock Pascal Struijk sale as news emerges

Pascal Struijk has been in excellent form for Leeds United this season and it will come as no surprise to see European teams sniffing around for his signature.

While there are guaranteed to be several more twists and turns along the way, Leeds remain on course to achieve promotion back to the Premier League, and the Dutchman has played a crucial role in that.

Aside from scoring a brace in a 2-1 win against Sunderland, Struijk has consistently been one of the best defenders in the Championship, having already received interest as a result of that.

Tottenham were said to have held an interest in signing Struijk in the winter, with another club linked ahead of the summer.

Leeds braced for Struijk offers this summer

Given how well Struijk has performed this season, interest in the summer will be inevitable, though their ability to retain his services may hinge on whether or not they can achieve promotion.

According to a report from Football Transfers (4 March), Feyenoord have already “been in contact” with the Whites in regard to a potential deal.

David Hancko, an ever-present for Feyenoord throughout his time in Holland, is likely to be leaving the Dutch giants, meaning they will be seeking his replacement.

The report also adds it may be a “good time for Leeds to sell” given that Struijk’s contract is up in 2027, with his market value likely to be at its highest this summer.

Of course, Leeds will have the biggest say in any potential deal, and should they get promoted, it’s highly unlikely that they will be overly keen on sanctioning his exit unless a significant amount of money is placed in front of them.

However, should they fail in those attempts, the likelihood of Struijk’s departure becomes greater, showcasing the importance of making a return to the Premier League.

Leeds must get promoted this season

Not only are Leeds deserving of a spot back in England’s top flight, but they simply need to achieve that or face the potential repercussions of that.

If the Whites were to fail in those attempts, they can all but say goodbye to the likes of Struijk and Ao Tanaka, who have already been on the radar of several Premier League clubs.

With 11 games to go, Leeds need to maintain their current form, and ensure that they don’t allow any complacency to creep into their game.
