Leeds continue pursuit of Sampdoria defender Omar Colley
Leeds United have continued to test the waters for transfer target Omar Colley, according to Club Doria 46.
The Sampdoria defender was first linked with a move to Elland Road by SampNews24 in April.
Club Doria 46 claim Sampdoria could let Colley go for €15million [£13million], with Napoli also interested in the centre-back.
The Italian outlet believes an offer could come in for the 28-year-old at the end of the season, while they also compare him to Kalidou Koulibaly.
Imposing figure
Marcelo Bielsa has plenty of quality options available at centre-back but none of them are like Colley.
Many of our centre-backs are easy on the eye and good with the ball at their feet, but are not exactly physically imposing.
Liam Cooper has the best tackle and interception return with 2.7 tackles and 2.2 interceptions per game, per WhoScored.
Colley, by comparison, has recorded a remarkable 6.7 interceptions per game and won 3.5 defensive duels per game [WyScout].
Added to that, the defender has produced 4.2 clearances per game, so he would probably be an effective partner alongside any of our current options.
The Brighton match last week shows we need an aggressive defender who covers the basics well, as Danny Welbeck turned Pascal Struijk and Luke Ayling far too easily for his goal.
Leeds are not in urgent need of a defender but if Victor Orta wants to improve our depth then we think Colley should be one of our main targets.
It is important to always be looking at ways to improve the squad, even positions that are strong, and signing Colley could allow us to do that.
