Leeds have completed ‘free transfer signing of the season’ – Sky Sports journalist
Leeds United have been actively looking for signings but their winter window may end on a dour note.
Despite submitting a reported bid of £39m, Leeds look set to miss out on Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Crystal Palace appear to have secured Strand Larsen’s services in a deal worth up to £48m, while Leeds weren’t prepared to go above the £40m mark.
It seems manager Daniel Farke will put his faith in forward duo Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, with the summer arrivals contributing 14 Premier League goals between them.
Now, an update has emerged on Leeds’ transfer deadline day plan, while Calvert-Lewin has come in for some special praise.
Leeds’ transfer deadline day plan revealed
According to Sky Sports’ Sanny Rudravajhala, Leeds are not currently planning on doing any more business before the 7pm deadline on Monday night (2 February).
Farke has repeatedly said he doesn’t want too large a squad after Leeds signed Brighton youngster Facundo Buonanotte on loan.
This is also in light of the fact that centre-back Jaka Bijol and winger Daniel James are nearing a first-team return after injuries.

Rudravajhala adds that number 10 Buonanotte will be the “only” addition for them in this transfer window but “questions remain” over the goalkeeping position, as Karl Darlow and summer signing Lucas Perri vie for the number one spot.
He adds that the form and fitness of former Everton man Calvert-Lewin has “eased” any fears over a lack of cover in attack.
Leeds are not planning to “sail any closer” to their PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules) limits, with Calvert-Lewin proving to be the “free transfer signing of the season so far”.
Will Leeds move any players on before the window shuts?
While Leeds may not sign any more players this month, some on the periphery of the team could be moved on.
Leeds striker Joel Piroe has been linked with an exit after struggling for game time under Farke this season.
Besiktas are tracking backup Leeds keeper Illan Meslier, with the Frenchman very much third-choice at best at Elland Road.

Reports suggested that Leeds rejected a bid for stopper Perri despite the Brazilian having a hit and miss start to life at the Yorkshire outfit.
But as the famous Leeds saying goes, though, “Don’t go to bed just yet…”.
