Leeds close in on deal to secure second signing for 20/21 PL season after winning promotion

Victor Orta has confirmed that Leeds United are closing in on a deal to re-sign Jack Harrison on yet another loan deal from Manchester City.

Harrison, 23, has spent the last two seasons on loan at Elland Road and has become a key player for Marcelo Bielsa in his side’s title-winning campaign in the Championship.

Leeds have been widely reported to have an option to buy Harrison from Man City for £8million [Manchester Evening News], but it seems that a third loan deal has been agreed with the Premier League giants instead.

“A key player has been Jack Harrison, who will continue one more year with us in the Premier League,” Orta told Radio Marca.

“We have reached an agreement with City and we will continue to do so on loan next season.

“When I called David Villa, and he answered me about the player in such a blunt way, I got out of doubt and brought him to the club. He is a footballer whose ceiling is invisible.”

Harrison now looks set to become the second player who Leeds United have tied down for the 2020/21 season in the Premier League.

Leeds have already confirmed the permanent deal for Helder Costa and it seems that Harrison is now set to follow suit after what Orta told the Spanish media.

It is odd that Leeds’ director of football confirmed the agreement this way, before any official statement was made by the Yorkshire club.

But still, we are delighted that Harrison is set to join again, even if it is on loan.

Unfortunately, Premier League clubs can only sign two loanees from other Premier League clubs and Harrison’s temporary switch from Man City takes up half of that allocation.

As the transfer window is bound to be different this time around, it remains to be seen whether or not that rule will change.

Harrison has been so key for Bielsa though that he is clearly worth bringing in on a temporary basis again, even if the option to buy clause is still there.
