'Leeds-bound?' - Many fans speculate as Elland Rd-linked ace reportedly heads to unnamed PL club

Leeds United fans are speculating on Twitter after it was reported that Barcelona midfielder Rafinha is heading to an unnamed Premier League club.

According to Spanish sports journalist Marsal Lorente, the 27-year-old Brazilian is on the verge of a move to the Premier League in a deal worth £12.7million.

Lorente, who writes for Mundo Deportivo, failed to name which English side Rafinha is joining but Leeds have been linked with him very recently.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that Rafinha had been offered to the Yorkshire giants after being deemed as surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp.

And that news, coupled with the update from Spain, has led to Leeds fans thinking that Rafinha might be on his way to Elland Road.

After the Leeds and Rafinha link emerged, Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo reported that the Whites have turned down the chance to sign him after being offered the player by Barcelona.

We can understand why Leeds would turn down the two-times Brazil international – even though he’s the cousin of Elland Road star Rodrigo.

He’s struggled with injuries and form at the Nou Camp [Mail] and Marcelo Bielsa will want his new signings to be able to hit the ground running as soon as possible and not have any injury issues.

We don’t want a repeat of Jean-Kevin Augustin’s loan spell and Rafinha, despite playing in a different position, just comes across as someone who’d be a risky addition given his issues in Spain.

If he is on his way to England, we will find out if Leeds dropped the ball on this transfer.

But we really doubt it.

In other Leeds United news, club chiefs have returned to UK empty-handed after a transfer mission in Europe.
