Leeds announce free defender transfer, sell-on clause included

Leeds United youngster Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen has joined Dunfermline Athletic on a free transfer until the end of the season.

The Scottish Championship side completed the signing of the 20-year-old on a six-month contract with the option to extend the deal further.

Sky Sports News have since reported (3 February) that there is a sell-on clause included in the deal despite there being no initial fee included.

Leeds United confirm Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen exit

It doesn’t come as a surprise that sides in Scotland would be interested in bringing in the centre-back during the winter window.

The Scotland under-21 international spent time on loan with Inverness Caledonian Thistle last January until a back injury ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

The young defender has since returned to Elland Road where he has made 13 appearances for the academy side so far this season.

Now Chilokoa-Mullen has completed a permanent switch away from LS11 where he will be hopeful of securing regular minutes in senior football.

Supporters in Yorkshire won’t blame him for making that move as opportunities for him were always going to be limited given the quality of the Whites’ first-team.

While Daniel Farke’s side go in search of promotion to the Premier League, chances for youth team prospects are always going to be limited so fair play to the 20-year-old for taking a chance to move on.
