Leeds agree personal terms to sign new player, deal worth £26k/wk in year one – reliable journo

Leeds United have agreed personal terms with Rennes winger Raphinha, according to SportItalia journalist Gianluigi Longari.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Saturday, Longari claimed that Leeds have agreed an initial £15.4million fee with Rennes, with an extra £5.4million to be paid in add-ons.

Longari then added on his personal Instagram account that a five-year deal has been agreed between the Whites and the 23-year-old Brazilian.

It is understood that in the first year of his contract at Elland Road, Raphinha will be paid around £26,000-a-week.

Longari claims that his salary will be worth £1.4million in the first year, rising by an extra £180,000 each year.

It has been widely reported that Marcelo Bielsa wants to add a new winger to his squad before the transfer window closes.

At 11pm on Monday, Leeds will be unable to sign any more players from outside of England so getting this deal done and dusted for Raphinha is of paramount importance at the moment.

The former Sporting CP winger has impressed in his limited time at Rennes.

Last season, he helped them qualify for the Champions League by scoring five goals and assisting three more in 22 Ligue 1 appearances.

In the opening weeks of this season, Rennes are top of Ligue 1 with Raphinha assisting twice in his first five outings.

Leeds have been brilliant in the opening weeks of the new Premier League season.

Helder Costa has been one of the stars of the show on the right-wing and signing someone to potentially replace him in the starting line-up seems harsh.

But, as we know with Bielsa, it could take some time for Raphinha to settle down at Elland Road and he could be used in several Under-23s matches before he’s able to start in the Premier League.
