Leeds United have now accepted a last-gasp bid from Dunfermline for Jeremiah Mullen, according to Joe Donnohue.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reports [2 February] that, while the fee is undisclosed, it is not thought to be a substantial deal as the 20-year-old crosses the border to Scotland.

Mullen is set to make the switch before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm on 3 February, joining fellow Leeds youngster Kris Moore in Scotland, who recently underwent a trial at St Johnstone.

Jeremiah Mullen set for Leeds United exit

With zero first-team appearances for the Scotland Under-21s international, it is not a total surprise to see him seal a permanent exit away from Elland Road in this window.

Daniel Farke has made it very clear which youngsters are being trusted with chances with the senior team, with the likes of Mateo Joseph and James Debayo getting minutes on the pitch.

A player such as Charlie Crew, who has now made his first-team debut, would likely have made more of an impact if it weren't for such a stocked midfield at Elland Road.

The exciting Welshman will gain plenty of much-needed experience with Doncaster Rovers until the end of the campaign, and while the same could have happened for Mullen, the same belief is clearly not there.

The Whites need to believe in the youngsters they send out on loan, but with Mullen leaving for an undisclosed fee, the club possibly thought it was more beneficial to cash in now.

With the 20-year-old unable to break into the first-team set-up at all, it should be seen as good business from Leeds to get any money out of the academy player.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Mullen gets on during his career in Scotland. And who knows - maybe he'll end up back at Elland Road one day.
