Leeds 23y/o future remains unclear, he failed to appear in pre-season training footage – report
Kamil Miazek’s future at Leeds United remains unclear as he failed to appear in the footage of players returning to pre-season training, according to LeedsLive.
Leeds United’s official Twitter account shared a video of the players returning to Thorp Arch for the first time ahead of the Premier League season, which kicks off in September.
Leeds have been quite busy so far this summer but there are still certain areas of the squad that need to be addressed and one is the goalkeeper department.
Kiko Casilla, Illan Meslier and Elia Caprile were all involved in training on Thursday but LeedsLive have pointed out that Miazek, 23, was nowhere to be seen.
Miazek’s contract was set to expire at the end of June and although there was no official announcement by Leeds, he clearly agreed a short-term extension to be on the bench for eight of the nine games after the Championship season restarted.
Caprile, 18, was signed in January and did seem to be Marcelo Bielsa’s third-choice goalkeeper until Miazek was surprisingly included in the last few matches.
There has not been any word on the Polish goalkeeper’s future since and questions are going to be raised now that he failed to feature in that training clip and Caprile did.
Miazek joined Leeds in 2017 after spells at Feyenoord and Polish club Chojniczanka Chojnice.
Although he’s made the bench over 20 times in all competitions since his arrival, he never made a first-team appearance for Leeds.
Miazek will celebrate his 24th birthday on Saturday and not earning any senior appearances for your club up until that age is a bit worrying.
Yes, he played a role last season as Leeds won promotion but we do not see him playing any further role at the club and a retained list could be released by the Yorkshire club sooner rather than later now that players are back at Thorp Arch.
In other Leeds United news, the club has made an offer for this Bundesliga attacking midfielder.
