Latte Lath transfer: Leeds make U-turn after £16m bid as sources share update

Leeds United are unlikely to make a move for Emmanuel Latte Lath amid a £16million offer from Atlanta United, according to TEAMtalk.

The Whites reportedly remain interested in the Middlesbrough striker despite Atlanta making a bid to sign [Daily Mail], but sources have told the aforementioned source (13 January) that they are unlikely to make an offer themselves.

Daniel Farke’s side believe they have enough options up front for the second half of the season even though Joe Gelhardt is joining Hull City on loan.

Daniel Farke to regret not signing a new striker at Leeds United

Yes, Leeds are certainly not short of options in the centre-forward position.

Joel Piroe has established himself as Farke’s first-choice striker this season, while Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford offer competition.

However, Piroe’s inconsistency in front of the goal has proven to be a problem on occasion and Joseph has not found the back of the net since scoring in the Whites’ 2-0 win against Sheffield United on 18 October.

Bamford, meanwhile, is currently sidelined with an injury.

Therefore, it would make sense for the Elland Road outfit to bring in a new number nine for the second half of the season if they want to secure an automatic promotion spot.

With 10 goals and two assists to his name in 26 Championship appearances, Latte Lath would certainly be a good option if the West Yorkshire-based club chose to pursue a deal for him.

That, though, is unlikely to be the case as things stand.
