Kristoffer Klaesson to have contract terminated after Leeds United transfer

Former Leeds United goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson is set to have his Raków Częstochowa contract scrapped after just one month, according to Adrian Heluszka.

The journalist reports (12 August) that Klaesson, who signed for the Polish side in July, is set for the exit after damaging the trust between the two parties over his physical condition.

It was just five weeks ago that he first arrived to complete his medical (Nettavisen, 6 July).

A solid decision from Leeds United

In the wake of his car crash back in April, many fans were just happy that Klaesson was alive and well.

Of course, the presence of Illan Meslier meant that he wasn’t likely to be a starter even when returning to full fitness. While the specifics of this development aren’t clear just yet, it’s safe to say Leeds United made a good decision.

When you’re a club shooting for promotion, you need to be able to make big decisions.

That often means cutting loose players who would otherwise serve as positive figures in the squad. For Klaesson, he always felt like a capable backup. Alas, the 23-year-old never did enough to warrant a consistent run in the first team.

If this does turn out to be true, we can only hope that it’s just a minor speed bump in his career. He’s young, he’s hungry and he clearly wants to make an impact.
