Kristensen ready to leave Leeds United as £8.4m transfer news emerges

Leeds United are asking for a fee of “well over” £8.4million in order to agree to the sale of Rasmus Kristensen to Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Hessenschau.

The German outlet reported (17 July) that, while Frankfurt want to get the signing over the finish line, Leeds are holding their ground over the fee to strike a permanent deal.

There’s still every chance that a loan will be agreed as has been reported (Florian Plettenberg, 17 July) but the details still need to be ironed out.

Is Rasmus Kristensen’s exit a good thing for Leeds United?

The saga of Kristensen’s future has been a hot topic for weeks now. He impressed during his loan spell with Roma last season but, beyond that, many seem to forget that he featured heavily for the Yorkshire-based club in the Premier League during the 2022/23 campaign.

In the midst of a relegation, Kristensen was able to stand out as one of the most impressive players in that run. His forward-thinking approach to the game gave Leeds an interesting outlet, which is one of the reasons why he was sought after by so many top-level European sides.

Of course, if an option to buy is included in this loan move, there’s every chance Frankfurt will activate it. In equal measure, it’s even more of an incentive for Leeds to push the pace in their surge for promotion in the Championship. If they can achieve that goal, the allure of Elland Road will only grow stronger in 2025.
