Kris Moore to play for Hibernian on Friday with Leeds United exit potentially hinging on performance

Leeds United youngster Kris Moore is set to feature for Hibernian on Friday as Nick Montgomery weighs up whether to make a January move.

The Daily Record reported (11 January) that the 20-year-old defender – who can play at centre-back or on the right – has been with Hibs during a winter training camp in Dubai and will get some game time in a friendly against Servette (12 January).

Boss Nick Montgomery is in need of defensive reinforcement as Ricky Bushiri is away at the Africa Cup of Nations with DR Congo and Lewis Miller is representing Australia at the Asian Cup.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke is seemingly keen for Moore to gain some valuable first-team exposure at Hibs after he was handed a two-year deal at Elland Road in July 2023 (official website).

Chance to impress

Moore is a player who is well thought of in the youth ranks at Elland Road and he was a key player in the Under-21s winning promotion in Premier League 2 Division 2 last term and scored in the playoff final win over Nottingham Forest at Elland Road.

But first-team opportunities are unlikely to arrive in the immediate future. Even with Pascal Struijk currently unavailable due to injury and Liam Cooper’s advancing years, Joe Rodon is a mainstay and Ethan Ampadu can cover there.

It means the best route for Moore to get some experience of senior men’s football is to head out on loan and he has a golden opportunity to do that at Easter Road where Montgomery is still looking for a first Hibs signing.

He has a great chance to impress when Hibs take on Servette on Friday and you get the feeling that Farke will be keeping an ear to the ground to find out how the youngster does as he will be keen for him to get some proper experience.
