Kostas Tsimikas set for mega move as Leeds United want transfer

Leeds United could potentially sign a Premier League champion as Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas is being eyed at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke may be without Junior Firpo soon, as the Dominican Republic international’s contract is set to expire soon.

Sam Byram’s deal at Elland Road is also set to conclude in the coming weeks, which may leave the German manager without a reliable option on the left-hand side of the defence.

49ers Enterprises must oversee a significant rebuild at the Whites next summer after winning promotion to the top flight, and have already identified options to strengthen their ranks.

Atletico Madrid and Juventus join Leeds United in Tsimikas transfer race

Atletico Madrid and Juventus have joined the West Yorkshire outfit in the race for Tsimikas, according to Sport24.

The news outlet reports (27 May) that the La Liga outfit and Serie A club are interested in the defender who’s played 40 times for Greece, and he’s also on the radar at Elland Road.

It’s been claimed that the two European giants could inquire about the 29-year-old, with offers expected to sign him from Liverpool soon.

While Atletico and Juventus are arguably more alluring destinations, the Whites may be able to offer him guaranteed first-team minutes.

Elland Road squad rebuild necessary after Premier League promotion

Paraag Marathe backed Farke after speculation around the 48-year-old head coach’s future, and must now reiterate that with heavy investment next summer.

The Peacocks can’t expect to survive relegation from the Premier League if they don’t strengthen their squad in the upcoming transfer window.

With an evident lack of depth in the West Yorkshire outfit’s backline, several defensive additions may be needed soon.

Leeds lost Pascal Stuijk to an injury towards the end of the season, but were fortunate that Ethan Ampadu returned to action from his fitness issue sooner than expected.

Joe Rodon was ever-present in the Whites’ backline in the current campaign as they won the Championship title.

Max Wober and James Debayo are the other centre-back options at Farke’s disposal at Elland Road, highlighting the lack of quality in depth.

The West Yorkshire outfit should sign defenders in the coming weeks, but how many depends on the futures of Firpo and Byram.

Illan Meslier has also fallen out of favour at the Peacocks, and the 49ers must build a solid foundation to avoid humiliation in the top flight.
