Karl Darlow to undergo Leeds United medical on Thursday, deal agreed with Newcastle United – Fabrizio Romano

Karl Darlow will undergo a medical with Leeds United on Thursday after an agreement with Newcastle United was sealed, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (27 July), the reliable transfer journalist reported that an agreement between the clubs is now sealed and the 32-year-old shot-stopper will undergo a medical today.

Darlow is jetting into the UK from Newcastle’s US tour to put pen-to-paper on a deal, after a £400,000 deal was agreed between the clubs.

“Karl Darlow will undergo medical tests as new Leeds United goalkeeper today, agreement sealed,” he wrote.

Boom

The Whites have finally got their man to go between the sticks for the new season and Daniel Farke can really start making his plans now.

A new goalkeeper was seen as a priority after Joel Robles left the club when his contract expired at the end of the season, and Illan Meslier’s future is still up in the air.

But the club are expecting that the French goalkeeper will leave and that made getting an experienced goalkeeper even more important, so getting a deal done at such a bargain price is excellent business by Leeds.

Darlow was mentioned a while back so was obviously towards the top of the tree when it came to targets, and the manager will be happy to have him through the door with time to work before the Cardiff game.

A deal is done and two signings are now completed, but there is still work to do to get this squad in good shape for the promotion charge that is expected.

In other Leeds news, 49ers may have cost the club millions after transfer decisions made this week.
