Kalvin Phillips transfer update emerges at Leeds United amid Manchester City exit speculation
Leeds United and Daniel Farke’s failure to win promotion to the Premier League will end their transfer interest in Kalvin Phillips, according to The Mirror.
The outlet reported on its website on Monday (28 May) that the Whites’ defeat to Southampton in the playoff final at Wembley will mean that the ‘Yorkshire Pirlo’ will not return to Elland Road from Manchester City this summer.
It had been suggested that the England international could return to Yorkshire this summer if Farke’s side made an immediate return to the top flight, as he will almost certainly leave the Etihad Stadium [Fabrizio Romano, 23 May].
On top of that, Phillips was spotted among the Leeds supporters at Wembley Stadium on Sunday (26 May) to add further fuel to the fire.
Will Leeds United re-sign Kalvin Phillips during the summer transfer window at Elland Road?
Leeds’ business this summer was always going to be immensely dependant on what division they were playing their football in and it appears as though the Whites could have to work with one hand behind their back.
Players like Phillips simply won’t be affordable for a side in the Championship, especially as Leeds United could well be forced to sell the likes of Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville as they attempt to balance the books.

The England international would have likely liked to have returned to Elland Road this summer as he looks to try and get his career on track, but Manchester City will still be holding out for a reasonable transfer fee.
Maybe something incredible could happen that somehow makes the deal doable once again, but that appears to be very unlikely at this stage. Hopefully, Farke will be able to find a different midfielder capable of stepping in at Elland Road this summer.
