Leeds United likely to break promise to Kalvin Phillips as Andrea Radrizzani makes decision
Leeds United look as though they could break a promise made to Kalvin Phillips after West Ham’s bid for him in January was rejected, according to The Express.
The newspaper reported via their print edition today [3 May, page 64] that Phillips, 26, is set to be kept waiting over a new deal after he was told his contract situation would be resolved in January when a bid of £55million for him was turned down.
It is understood that a deal worth £100,000-a-week had been on the cards for Phillips but Andrea Radrizzani isn’t prepared to sanction that contract unless Leeds’ Premier League safety is confirmed.

Relegation likely
As it stands, Premier League safety is not in Leeds’ hands.
Even if the Whites win all of their remaining fixtures, they could still be relegated back to the Championship and the whole cycle starts again.
Leeds’ position in the table is down to several massive factors and the number of injuries we’ve had this season is easily the biggest.
Marcelo Bielsa wasn’t the problem in that regard because it’s been proven that we’re simply unlucky based on the recent season-ending blows to Stuart Dallas and Adam Forshaw.

And now it looks as though Leeds’ failure to move away from the bottom-three could lead to Phillips leaving.
If Phillips does quit this summer, it’ll surely only happen if we’re relegated to the Championship.
And if he does go, the money we’ll get for him will no doubt be a lot less than it would be if we stayed up or had agreed to sell him last summer.
Phillips is Leeds through and through and we’d hope that he’d stick around to get this team back up but if a promise is broken, we can see why he might want to move on as the midfielder is reportedly nowhere near being a top-earner at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, this Whites star has tweeted from a hospital bed after a major injury issue.
