Junior Firpo will be officially unveiled by Leeds United on Monday
Leeds United will officially unveil Junior Firpo as their newest addition tomorrow (Monday) after agreeing a deal with Barcelona, according to Spanish radio broadcaster Gerard Romero.
It is understood Leeds will pay around a total of £12.9million for Firpo, which will be paid in two different instalments with the 24-year-old left-back signing a four-year contract at Elland Road and doubling what he was earning at the Nou Camp.
How much will Firpo earn?
If Firpo is doubling his wages by moving from Barcelona to Leeds then the amount of money he earns each week is a lot.
In March, The Sun reported a list of Barcelona players and how much they make each week.
According to The Sun, Firpo earns £85,000-a-week on his contract at the Nou Camp – a modest sum considering what some of his soon-to-be-former teammates earn.
However, if Romero is right about Firpo doubling his wage by joining Leeds, it means the Premier League club is offering the left-back a whopping £170,000-a-week.
We’re not sure how that stacks up against the rest of the Leeds squad but we’re pretty sure that would put him among the top earners at Elland Road – if not the highest earner at the club.
If that figure is right then Marcelo Bielsa will be under a lot of pressure to ensure he lives up to the money he’s earning.
We’re fairly sure he will though.
