Junior Firpo’s exit from Leeds United seems all but nailed on now.

Leeds United will be looking to trim their squad this summer, though they will be keen to retain as much of the squad harmony as possible.

However, when it comes to Firpo, his exit from Elland Road looks all but nailed on, with Lyon the latest side to have been linked with the left-back on a free transfer.

Taking that into account, replacing him will be a priority for the Whites, and a Swedish international currently playing his trade in Ligue 1 has been identified as a potential successor.

Leeds eye deal to sign Gabriel Gudmundsson

Leeds have a lot of work to do this summer, and signing a new number nine will be high up on their list of priorities, though that may change if Firpo’s exit does indeed happen.

It would leave the Whites remarkably short at the left-back area, and according to a report from Yorkshire Evening Post (18 June), Lille’s Gabriel Gudmundsson has been looked at.

Having made 15 appearances for Sweden, Gudmundsson has thrived in France, with his versatility also a key asset.

With question marks over the Leeds future of Sam Byram, the Whites will want to move quickly to seal a new defensive arrival, and a move for the 26-year-old could be on the cards.

Farke needs to be backed this summer

Leeds started their summer business with the arrival of Lukas Nmecha, though they are yet to open up the chequebook, given the fact that he will move to Elland Road on a free transfer.

While money guarantees nothing, investment will be needed, and amid links to the likes of Habib Diarra, it seems as though the 49ers will be prepared to release them.

These next few months are going to be crucial for the Whites, and they will be afforded no margin for error.
