Junior Firpo ready to make financial effort to leave Leeds United
Junior Firpo is willing to make a financial effort to leave Leeds United for Real Betis this summer, according to ABC.
Writing on their website (16 July), the news outlet report that the two clubs have already held talks about a deal for the left-back who could leave on loan after the Whites failed to earn promotion back to the Premier League.
But should Leeds demand a fee to allow that, considering Firpo is out of contract in the summer of 2025, the Dominican Republic international is willing to lower his wages to help Betis get a deal over the line.
Leeds United must only do business on their terms
After the sale of Archie Gray to Tottenham for £40million and Glen Kamara to Rennes for around £8.6million, Leeds are under absolutely no pressure to sell anyone this summer.
But that doesn’t mean that nobody else will leave and there is interest in a number of first-team stars, so the club have to pay attention to all potential scenarios.
Firpo was expected to be allowed to leave this summer as he enters the final year of his deal [Phil Hay, 12 March], but with Connor Roberts not staying after his loan and the future of Rasmus Kristensen up in the air [YEP, 13 July] there are only two options at full-back for Daniel Farke.

Transfers will surely take place, but if Leeds can’t find an adequate replacement for Firpo then a deal shouldn’t be sanctioned. It will only make the team weaker and affect the chances of promotion.
Firpo is training and knows he is important at Elland Road, so ideally he won’t make a scene for a move. But if that happens then the 49ers would need to assert themselves again and make a big decision.
