Julian Brandt could be most Red Bull signing yet at Leeds United as excitement grows
Julian Brandt is on Leeds United's radar, and he could fit the mould perfectly at Elland Road.
The Whites are said to be exploring a move to sign the Borussia Dortmund star, who is set to leave the Westfalenstadion when his contract expires at the end of June.
Brandt has spent seven seasons in the Bundesliga with Dortmund, coming close to capturing the title on several occasions.
However, it appears the German international wants a new challenge while he's still at the top of his game, and LS11 could be next up for him.
Daniel Farke has made it clear that he wants to sign a new attacking midfielder this summer, and given the transfer policy set out by Paraag Marathe and Co. the Dortmund star would be perfect.
He not only fits the transfer model at Leeds, but he could be the Whites' most Red Bull-coded signing yet since their partnership began in 2024.
Julian Brandt has all the makings of a Red Bull-coded player for Leeds
Many Whites fans associate Red Bull with a new era at Leeds.
The partnership with the energy drink franchise began in May of 2024, right before Leeds' promotion-winning season under Farke.
Red Bull own their own football clubs with Leipzig, Salzburg, New York and others in Brazil.
Wherever Red Bull goes in football, connotations of a high-pressing, flexible and technical system follow, and Brandt epitomises that.
The 30-year-old can play out on the left, as a false 9, deep in midfield, or in his natural position of the number 10 role.
He is relentless in the press, and though not seen as an attacking powerhouse, he makes up for what he lacks in with expert technical ability that is always on show in the final third.
Funnily enough, Brandt has all the traits that suit Leeds and their identity under Farke, as the German would probably be the most Red-Bull coded player to come to Elland Road yet, with connections to the franchise's ecosystem in German football.
What Leeds can offer Brandt instead of Champions League football
Though Leeds will look back on last season as success, it was just another step towards the overall goal of getting the Whites back into Europe.
Sunderland, for example, have done so, and it is expected that the Black Cats will have more pulling power in the summer window given the Europa League journey that awaits them, something Leeds could do with
That's stressed even more so given the fact that the Whites are in competition with several top European sides for Brandt, some of which can offer him Champions League football.
Despite this, Farke can still offer the attacker the freedom of Elland Road, and promise him the keys to the attack that can lead the club back to glory.
Perhaps this will entice him to LS11.
