Journalist shares what he has heard about Leeds United transfer pursuit of Callum O’Hare

Graeme Bailey has shared that he would be “surprised” to see Callum O’Hare joining Leeds United this summer.

It was reported by TEAMtalk (13 June) that the Whites were ready to battle Southampton and Burnley for the signature of the 26-year-old midfielder, who is available on a free transfer.

Journalist Bailey has no doubt about the talent of O’Hare but indicated he is not too aware of interest from Elland Road.

“Callum O’Hare is not one I’ve heard massively in the last few months so I would be surprised, to be honest. But he’s a good player on a free,” said Bailey via Leeds United News (21 June).

What Callum O’Hare would bring to Leeds United

The West Yorkshire outfit narrowly missed out on promotion back to the Premier League last season after losing 1-0 to Southampton in the play-off final at Wembley).

There were times when Daniel Farke’s men looked to be in control of the league and were often in and around the automatic promotion spots.

However, when it came to crunch time, it evidently wasn’t meant to be.

Last term O’Hare managed to help guide Coventry to a top-10 finish following their fantastic run to the playoff final in the 2022/23 campaign.

Although they couldn’t quite replicated their play-off finish in the league, the midfielder’s stability and keen eye for a pass were pivotal to Coventry’s successes.

In 2023/24, O’Hare managed a total of 14 goal involvements in just 36 games across all competitions.

The midfielder would give the Whites yet another strong attacking option and would enable Leeds to start plugging the gap left by the expected departure of Crysencio Summerville this summer [Fabrizio Romano, 18 June].

The future of Willy Gnonto is also up in the air as a plethora of clubs have been chasing after his transfer [Ben Jacobs via GiveMeSport, 19 June] since the start of last season, so adding someone with the proven quality of O’Hare would certainly make sense.
