Pundit shares huge Erling Haaland-Leeds claim with Fabrizio Romano
Jan Aage Fjortoft cannot see Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland joining Leeds United any time soon amid speculation linking the Norway international with a move to England.
Haaland, 20, was regularly linked with Manchester United in the last transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyed a move for his fellow countryman.
Sky Sports Italy journalist Fabrizio Romano reported via his personal Twitter account on Thursday that Man United tabled four bids for Haaland.
Romano had Norwegian pundit Fjortoft on his Here We Go podcast this week and when discussing the Dortmund forward’s future, the former Sheffield United player said a move to Elland Road is unlikely at this stage.
However Fjortoft did make a huge claim by saying Haaland will join the Whites before he hangs up his boots.
“It’s anyone’s guess, I think, where he will end up,” said Fjoroft.
“I think that he will never retire before he has played in England. He was born in England. Not for [Manchester] United, but for Leeds United – his dad [played] for Leeds United. But I can’t see that [in] the short term that he’s going there.”
If Haaland is going to join Leeds, can it happen sooner rather than later, please?
The 20-year-old is one of the hottest properties in world football at the moment with him scoring 27 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions since joining Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January.
Haaland has averaged a goal-per-game so far this season with 11 goals in 11 outings – his most recent coming against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
If he can score goals for fun at Dortmund then you would imagine that he would be a hit in the Premier League if he does head there one day.
And if that does happen, let’s pray that he joins Leeds.
Haaland was born in the Yorkshire city and is the son of ex-Whites star Alf Inge Haaland.
He’s often been tipped to join the Whites with Bleacher Report claiming in December last year that Leeds is the “most likely” club for him to join in the Premier League if he does head there.
There have been a lot of suggestions that Haaland is primed to play for Leeds United Football Club someday but let’s hope that’s not just people putting two and two together.
