Journalist makes Brenden Aaronson admission as Leeds United return mooted
Brendan Aaronson is expected to return to the fold at Leeds United if the club secure promotion back to the Premier League, according to Dean Jones.
Speaking to GiveMeSport on Wednesday (11 October), the former Eurosport journalist said the USA international “still wants to cut it” in the top flight and believes the Whites would “give him another chance”.
But he added that it’s a “big if” for the 22-year-old midfielder, who is currently on a season-long loan deal with Union Berlin, to return to Elland Road because there is “still such a long way to go” in this campaign.

“If Leeds get back to the Premier League, I do expect Aaronson to be back in the fold,” said Jones. “He still wants to cut it in the Premier League, and I think they’d have to give him another chance.
“There are plenty of times where players have had a second crack of the whip, and they have figured things out. It’s a big if, though, at the moment, because there is still such a long way to go.
“Leeds are obviously being mentioned in line with promotion, but we all know there are dips that come across the course of a Championship season. It’s all going to be about how they come through those moments.”
Several factors at play
There are several factors at play with regard to Aaronson returning to Leeds next summer and playing for the club in the following campaign.
The Whites would first of all have to earn promotion back up to the Premier League because the midfielder made it clear that he wants to play at the highest level.
Then there is a decision to make over whether Daniel Farke would want him as part of his squad after he didn’t want to play for the club this season.

If they did gain promotion, then there is a fairly good chance that some of the players who left West Yorkshire over the summer would want to return, but whether the fans would accept them back is another matter.
There is an awful lot that needs to happen before that point is reached, though, so the focus will be solely on the players who are committed to the club right now and want to help it get back up to the top flight this season.
In other Leeds United news, Graham Smyth has made an “unusual” admission as he tipped a Whites player to break a league record.
