Joseph Paintsil tells Genk he does not want to leave after Leeds United transfer bid

Joseph Paintsil has told Genk he doesn’t want to leave this summer after Leeds United bid for the winger, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The transfer reporter posted on his personal Twitter account on Monday (28 August) that the Ghanaian had decided against leaving the Belgian side after the Whites had submitted a proposal to sign him before the transfer window closes.

Daniel Farke has been looking for his final few additions to his squad before the 1 September deadline, with the 25-year-old one of three targets on the agenda, including a new midfielder and a new striker [Ben Jacobs, 24 August].

With the signing of Joel Piroe since confirmed and interest in Glen Kamara continuing it looks set to be a busy final few days of the transfer window at Elland Road as Farke puts the finishing touches on his squad.

Could be worse

If there is one place Leeds are likely able to miss out on a target this summer it is out wide, with a surplus of depth on the wings, especially with the returns of Luis Sinisterra and Wilfried Gnonto to the fold at Elland Road.

Both players scored and impressed in the win over Ipswich Town and unless something drastic unfolds between now and the end of the transfer window, they appear to be remaining under the management of Farke in the Championship.

Leeds United

Leeds may well be better off using the money to strengthen their side elsewhere, with more reinforcements needed in midfield and defence rather than wasting money on further wide options when only a few can play each game anyway.

As Farke said earlier in the window, he only wants players at Leeds United who are committed and driven to play for the Whites and if Paintsil is more interested in his future in Belgium then Leeds will be better off looking towards different targets.

In other Leeds United news, one pundit had claimed that Leeds players don’t have to like Gnonto for him to be successful at Elland Road
