Jorgen Strand Larsen to Leeds United grows in confidence as late transfer compromise possible

Leeds United are hoping to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves this winter.

Leeds’ signing of Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton remains their only piece of transfer business in this winter window so far.

However, Leeds chiefs are hopeful that it won’t stay that way for long, with more signings predicted after Buonanotte.

Signing a striker is a priority for Leeds before the 2 February deadline, as Daniel Farke looks to ensure his side has enough cutting edge to make certain of their Premier League status this season.

Leeds get positive Jorgen Strand Larsen transfer update

Wolves star Jorgen Strand Larsen has been strongly linked to Leeds this month, in what would be a blockbuster move for the Whites.

Larsen, despite having a down year so far in 2025-26 which can largely be attributed to Wolves’ league placing, the Norwegian international has proven himself to be a quality player in the Premier League.

And even despite Wolves’ struggles this season, Strand Larsen has been able to register six goals and two assists in all competitions.

So, it’s not difficult to see why Leeds are so keen to bring the centre-forward to Elland Road, and they may just be getting closer to doing exactly that.

As per a report from the Daily Mail on Thursday, it’s revealed that there is a growing confidence in West Yorkshire that his signature can be secured this month.

It’s stated that whilst Leeds do need to proceed with caution in relation to PSR and Strand Larsen’s reported price tag of around £40million, that asking price may be set to drop.

The report suggests that competition for his services is fading, and given that Wolves are staring at Championship football for next season, they could lower their asking price and take a smaller up front fee.

Meanwhile, Leeds offering a swap deal for Strand Larsen has been mooted.

Leeds may need to hold their nerve on Strand Larsen

Taking what has been reported, Leeds may need to show as much patience as possible when it comes to a deal for Strand Larsen.

By the time deadline day comes around on 2 February, Wolves will have played a further two Premier League matches.

Those are away at Manchester City on 24 January, before welcoming Bournemouth to Molineux on 31 January.

Leeds predicted XI vs Everton

Needless to say, that’s two very tough fixtures, and zero points from those two would all but seal their Premier League fate for good.

As such, Leeds could come calling on deadline day once again, and by then, Wolves’ resignation to Championship football could reflect on them easing their stance on Strand Larsen, and awarding the Whites with a cheaper deal.
