Jorgen Strand Larsen says goodbyes at Wolves amid last-minute Leeds transfer news

Jorgen Strand Larsen is nearing a move away from Wolves.

Strand Larsen has been strongly linked to Leeds this month as he pushes for a move to a fellow Premier League team.

Crystal Palace’s £50m bid for Strand Larsen fell through this week, after they initially saw the offer verbally accepted by Wolves.

Leeds are reportedly still interested in him after offering a package worth a total of £39million, as per TeamTalk.

The race to sign him will go down to the wire, and he may have just played his last game for Wolves.

Jorgan Strand Larsen says goodbye to Wolves fans at Molineux

Wolves were beaten 2-0 by Bournemouth on Saturday, as their hopes of staying in the Premier League took another blow.

After the match, the 25-year-old was seen walking around Molineux, clapping for the fans.

Strand Larsen came on for Hwang Hee-Chan in the 70th minute, but failed to have an impact, which has been a recurring theme this season.

Having spent 18 months at Wolves, he now looks set for a move elsewhere, but his final destination is still unclear.

Sky Sports reported that Crystal Palace still want to sign Strand Larsen from Wolves after a fee of £45m plus £5m was more or less verbally agreed by all parties.

However, there are still some parts of the deal that are yet to be agreed upon, and although both clubs are working on it, Leeds are still firmly a contender to secure his services.

If Leeds were to lose out on the Norway internatonal to a Premier League rival, it would be a setback, but matching Palace’s bid of £50m is far too much for the Whites at this moment.

Regardless, it is a two-horse race, and there is still hope that he will make the move to LS11.

It’s clear that he is not in a rich vein of form, although he would be a formidable strike partner to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Why is Leeds such a great fit for Strand Larsen?

Several other transfers have to go through before Wolves can sell their star man, but the Norwegian clearly wants to play for a more ambitious team.

With Daniel Farke playing in a 3-5-2 formation, the addition of Strand Larsen would enhance Leeds’ aerial threat in the final third.

Leeds paid £35.5m for Georginio Rutter in 2023, but that fee could be eclipsed if they can get this deal over the line.

While it may be an expensive deal, a two-pronged strike partnership of Calvert-Lewin and Strand Larsen is certainly impressive, and it could help fire the Whites to Premier League safety.

Only time will tell if Leeds can somehow overtake Crystal Palace in the race to sign him.
