Joel Piroe in demand as Leeds United forward delays Elland Road exit
Joel Piroe could leave Leeds United in the winter transfer window amid interest from several teams around Europe.
Ipswich Town are the latest team to target Piroe, with the Championship outfit submitting a bid to sign him permanently before the 2 February deadline.
Jorgen Strand Larsen could soon move to Elland Road, with Wolves anticipating a new offer from the Whites after rejecting their initial bid.
While it doesn’t look like the Suriname international’s future will be affected by the Norwegian striker’s potential arrival, he’ll surely be worried about his lack of game time in LS11 this season.

Joel Piroe to assess Leeds United future in summer
Piroe is determined to stay at Leeds and fight for his place under Farke, Bela Shah says.
The Sky Sports journalist revealed that while the 26-year-old could leave Elland Road, with the likes of Ipswich, FC Twente, Paris FC and Celtic enquiring about him, the centre-forward will assess his future in the summer.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the former Swansea attacker as the West Yorkshire outfit push to sign Strand Larsen.
Speaking on Sky Sports News on 28 January, Shah said, “Leeds’ pursuit of Strand Larsen is said not to have any bearing on the future of Piroe, who could leave Elland Road. Promotion hopefuls Ipswich are the latest team to express an interest in signing Piroe on a permanent transfer.”
The journalist added, “It’s understood that Piroe wants to stay and fight for his place in the team. He’s going to assess his future in the summer. But FC Twente, Paris FC and Celtic are just a number of clubs to enquire about the striker this window.”
Piroe’s dedication at Elland Road is encouraging, but it’s clear Farke doesn’t trust the forward as much as he did last season.
How much could Elland Road hierarchy demand for Joel Piroe exit?
Piroe seems to be waiting for the right opportunity to leave Elland Road, but it remains to be seen what that will look like.
The Suriname international was the Championship’s top goalscorer last season, so it isn’t surprising to see so many teams expressing their interest in him.

Leeds could be looking to get around £13million for Piroe, and given his contract expires in 2027, a January exit would certainly be more valuable for the Elland Road hierarchy.
The centre-forward’s value will surely diminish if he continues to warm the bench at the West Yorkshire outfit until the end of the season, and his situation is worth keeping an eye on.
