Joel Piroe agents to jet into UK on Thursday to finalise Leeds United transfer

Joel Piroe is closing in on a move from Swansea City to Leeds United as they look to add to their forward options, according to Tom Coleman.

The Wales Online journalist tweeted on 24 August that the Dutchman’s representatives are flying into the UK on Thursday to complete the move to Elland Road.

The Swans had been keen to keep hold of the 24-year-old this summer, but Coleman revealed that he rejected the offer of a new contract with the Welsh club earlier this week.

Huge

This is a potentially huge development in Leeds’ pursuit of a new forward this summer as they look to be closing in on the signing of Piroe.

The Whites have been trying to secure a deal for the Dutchman for most of the transfer window, but their efforts have been slowed down by ongoings behind-the-scenes at Swansea.

Welsh newspaper The Western Mail reported on page 45 of its print edition on 24 August that the forward and his representatives have been in a stand-off with the Swans after the club have seemingly gone back on an exit agreement previous CEO Julian Winter made with the striker in January.

Leeds United

But it looks as though that issue may now have been resolved with his agents flying into the UK on Thursday to try and get the deal over the line.

Piroe would certainly add quality to the West Yorkshire club’s attacking options after he has scored 46 goals in 96 appearances since joining from Dutch side PSV in 2021 [Transfermarkt].

In other Leeds United news, the club are in advanced talks to land an international midfielder.
