Joe Rodon to worry for Leeds United future after latest transfer updates - Verdict
Joe Rodon is looking increasingly likely to find himself cast aside at Leeds United in the upcoming campaign.
The Wales intertional had a fine season for the Whites in the Premier League, in which he very rarely did anything wrong.
His best attribute was his availability, with Rodon having missed just three of their 38 league encounters, having missed none in their promotion campaign.
However, as always with the second season back in the top flight, teams are constantly looking to improve in any ways possible.
Leeds have already been linked with a whole host of new defensive options, some more ambitous than the rest.
But many of them have one thing in common, which can only spell bad news for Rodon.
Could Joe Rodon be replaced this summer?
Yes, but in all honesty, there isn't a single player who is safe from the possibility of that next season.
But the interesting thing to have emerged from their early transfer links is the fact that several of their alleged defensive targets are right-footed.
Ousmane Diomande is one of them, as ambitious an approach as that seems, while Nico Elvedi is the latest to be linked with a move to Elland Road
Of course, Leeds need depth, but the calibre of player they seem to be targeting in that area of the pitch certainly points towards the Wales star being replaced.
What was Rodon's weakness last season?
While Rodon was far from bad, so to speak, in any area of his game, he was very average in several of them
He ranked among the bottom 20 per cent of Premier League centre-backs for his aerial duel win rate, which was just 51.2 per cent.
On top of that, his 87.4 per cent pass accuracy saw him rank almost right in the middle for the same pool of players.
He's almost certain to have a role to play next season, but whether it will be in the starting 11 or not remains to be seen.
However, as per the latest links, it does seem unlikely that it will be the case.
