Joe Rodon to Leeds United loan update shared amid new Tottenham development
Leeds United’s hopes of re-signing Joe Rodon have been dented as Tottenham Hotspur are only interested in a permanent sale amid talk of a move to Southampton, according to Alan Nixon.
The journalist reported via X (23 June) that “Spurs want a sale” for the Welsh defender this summer as opposed to another loan, as he was asked specifically about Leeds’ interest.
He has suggested that Ange Postecoglou’s side are interested in Carlos Alcaraz while they “hope” the Saints will take Rodon.
This could be a blow to Leeds, who could now miss out on the 26-year-old after an initial loan spell last campaign.
Leeds United could miss out on Joe Rodon transfer
The Whites need to prepare their squad for yet another season in the Championship after missing out on promotion last year.
There is a chance that they could lose players like Crycensio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto but at least Leeds will get a fee for them.
The departures of Rodon, Connor Roberts and Jaidon Anthony will leave a hole in the squad which will need filling moving forward.
Rodon had a great spell at Elland Road and became an instant fan favourite thanks to his performances throughout the season.
It is unclear as to whether or not they would be able to afford to sign him on a permanent deal this summer after losing in the Play-Offs.
It would be a bitter blow if Southampton were to land him after being the ones to condemn Leeds to another Championship campaign.
The Red Bull sponsorship may afford more wiggle room in the transfer market so there is some hope there still that the Whites can land him permanently.
