Joe Rodon set for Leeds United medical on Thursday, talks with Tottenham Hotspur ongoing around obligation to buy
Joe Rodon is set to undergo his Leeds medical on Thursday as the club continue talks with Tottenham about a potential loan to buy deal, reports Paul O Keefe.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (9 August), football agent O Keefe says Rodon is on his way to Yorkshire today (9 August) ahead of a medical tomorrow.
But while a season-long loan deal has been agreed between the clubs, talks are ongoing about a potential obligation to buy clause being inserted into the transfer.
“Joe Rodon on his way up to Leeds today where he’ll have a medical tomorrow morning,” he wrote.
“Dependent on Leeds success this season both parties looking at an obligation to buy.”
Interesting
There is no doubt that we needed a central defender and Rodon has been excellent in the Championship in the past and impressed when given a chance in the Premier League.
But the options that Spurs have meant that he found game time hard to come by in north London, so he has opted to move away for more regular football.

However, if Leeds get promoted this season as is their aim then they will need proven Premier League options for next season and having a deal agreed in advance could certainly be a shrewd bit of business.
Obviously he would have to impress for it to be good business, and Leeds have to make sure the price isn’t too inflated so it still suits us, but it could work for all parties.
It will be interesting to see how this gets over the line, but it shoulnd’t be too long to wait now to find out with a medical scheduled for tomorrow morning.
