Jim White delivers major update on Che Adams move to Leeds

Jim White has delivered a major update on Che Adams’ potential move to Leeds United, saying that Southampton are going to block his transfer.

That’s not what Leeds fans will have been hoping to hear this morning after the Athletic’s Phil Hay had said the Southampton board were ready to let him leave on loan for a £1m fee.

Talking on the Jim White Show (talkSPORT, Monday, 11am), White said, “Some interesting news on Che Adams.

“There’s been talk Leeds are trying to get him on loan. That would be one major boost for them.

“However, Alex Crook, our man on the south coast, has told me in the last few minutes that Southampton will block Leeds from getting the transfer done. Hasenhuttl wants him to stay.”

Danny Murphy was also on the Jim White Show and said that this would be a blow to Leeds.

He said that Adams would have been a “difference maker” for Leeds and that he could have been the player that would have seen them get promoted.

If White’s information is correct then it will put Leeds back at square one in their hunt for a new striker.

We’re now almost at the midway point in the January transfer window and fans are getting understandably nervy.

This latest update will not help at all.

Where do Leeds look next?

The options are dwindling.

Dwight Gayle suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury over the weekend and we’re sure that will rule Leeds out.

There has been speculation about Andre Gray from Watford but we’ve heard nothing from any reputable sources.

At the moment, our hope would be that something changes at Southampton – but it might take a new striker coming in to dramatically shift the goalposts.
