Jesse Lingard sends four-word message as new Leeds United transfer sealed

Jesse Lingard has sent a four-word message on Instagram to his former youth teammate Joe Rothwell after he signed for Leeds United.

Rothwell posted on Instagram [11 July] expressing his delight after completing a season-long loan deal on Thursday night, joining Leeds from AFC Bournemouth.

Lingard, a former teammate of Rothwell’s in the youth setup at Leeds’ bitter rivals Manchester United, commented: “Good luck my bro”, wishing the midfielder well.

Leeds United secure Rothwell deal

Despite his past across the Pennines, most Leeds United fans will be inclined to turn a blind eye following the signing of Rothwell.

The 29-year-old brings a hefty level of experience in the Championship, plus 31 Premier League appearances under his belt which makes him an ideal transition player for the top flight should Leeds achieve promotion and buy the midfield man.

Rothwell, although rarely featuring from the start, was part of the Southampton side to earn promotion to the Premier League last season after spending the second half of the campaign on loan at St. Mary’s.

Leeds were certainly light in the middle of the park following the high-profile sale of Archie Gray, alongside the departure of Marc Roca and the pending exit of Glen Kamara with Stade Rennais circling.

Daniel Farke is beginning to see results in the reshaping of his squad, as many expectant Leeds fans anticipate a title-winning term in the Championship.

In other Leeds news, a decision made last year by Andrea Radrizzani is set to benefit the club financially.
