Javi Galan hours away from Huesca exit amid Leeds United interest

Huesca left-back Javi Galan is “his last hours” at the Spanish club amid interest from Leeds United and Sevilla, according to AS.

The Spanish news outlet claims Leeds have knocked on the door of the 26-year-old, who’s set to exit Huesca for £3.4million due to a release clause in his contract.

He’s described as “one of the bargains of the summer” due to that release clause and while it’s unclear where Galan is heading, Leeds are a team who’ve shown an interest in the former Cordoba left-back.

Another left-back? Yes, please

Leeds lost Ezgjan Alioski earlier this summer when his contract at Elland Road expired and that led to Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa in need of a new left-back.

It didn’t take long for them to wrap up a £13million move for Junior Firpo, who’s since arrived in West Yorkshire from Barcelona.

However, Firpo is the only out-and-out left-back in Bielsa’s first-team squad and signing a back-up would be a good idea.

Sure, Stuart Dallas can play there, as can Pascal Struijk. But we’ve seen them do better in other positions so why weaken the squad as a whole when Galan’s release clause at Huesca is so cheap?

According to AS, he’s was a “revelation” in La Liga last season.

He made 37 appearances in Spain’s top-flight as Huesca were relegated, scoring one goal and supplying two assists in the process.

Galan’s one goal came against Real Madrid while stats by WhoScored show that only Lionel Messi [4.5] completed more dribbles per La Liga game than Galan [3.3].

He’s an attack-minded left-back who seems like he’d be an absolute bargain.

Let’s see if we can get him in as a back-up for Firpo.

In other Leeds United news, Orta held a meeting in a restaurant with a player he wants to sign for Bielsa’s senior squad.
