James McAtee could join Leeds United later in transfer window - Phil Hay
Leeds United are still interested in signing James McAtee from Manchester City after completing a deal for Darko Gyabi, according to Phil Hay.
The Whites confirmed their fourth summer signing of the window after Gyabi penned a four-year deal to move to Elland Road for £5m on Monday [July 4].
But that may not be the last time the teams do business this summer, with The Athletic reporting that McAtee is still highly rated by the Yorkshire side and a deal could happen later in the window.
Writing for The Athletic, Hay said, “Two other City youngsters, Romeo Lavia, an 18-year-old holding midfielder, and James McAtee, a 19-year-old attack-minded midfielder, are also highly rated by Leeds.
“Moves for both have been considered and in McAtee’s case, he could still arrive later in the summer, although City intend to keep him around.”

McAtee is a super talented young attacker, and getting regular first-team football will undoubtedly be easier to do at Elland Road than at the Etihad.
But if his focus is entirely on breaking into the first-team there, then it makes sense for Leeds to just keep an eye on the situation for now rather than push for a move.
A deal is reportedly close for Luis Sinisterra to replace Raphinha on the wing and the likes of Daniel James, Jack Harrison, Brenden Aaronson and Joe Gelhardt are all still in the first-team picture too.
However if the opportunity later in the window becomes available, Leeds will be right in the race to sign him and let him break into the side in a white shirt instead.
It’s be interesting to keep an eye on as the summer passes because there are plenty of moving parts, but it’s clear that Leeds’ transfer business is not done yet.
