James Debayo in demand as Sky Sports share transfer update after Leeds exit

James Debayo could find a new club soon this transfer window after leaving Leeds United at the end of last season.

The 20-year-old didn’t feature much for the Whites in their Championship-winning campaign and left the Whites after his contract expired.

Daniel Farke didn’t trust Debayo much, and it isn’t surprising that the centre-back decided to leave the West Yorkshire outfit for pastures new.

With the Peacocks signing Jaka Bijol from Udinese and Sebastiaan Bornauw from VfL Wolfsburg, the England Under-18 international arguably made the right call, and now seems to be in demand.

Debayo transfer wanted by clubs in England and Belgium after Leeds United exit

Debayo is attracting interest from several clubs in England and Belgium after leaving Leeds, according to Sky Sports.

The news outlet reports (25 July) that the 20-year-old rejected a new contract offer at Elland Road to search for regular game time elsewhere.

Having made just one appearance in the Championship last season, coming off as a substitute in the 89th minute against Swansea in the 4-3 win on 24 November, the young defender can’t be blamed for wanting a change.

Despite the apparent lack of depth in the West Yorkshire outfit’s backline in the previous campaign, Farke didn’t give the English centre-back many opportunities.

Leeds building squad for Premier League

Leeds have to back Farke this transfer window after he helped them win the Championship title and end a two-year absence from the Premier League.

The Whites have made some astute additions to their backline, and Debayo’s absence arguably won’t be felt.

With Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach arriving in LS11, the German manager has been handed more quality options in the engine room.

Leeds should now focus on bolstering their attack and are working on bringing Feyenoord forward Igor Paixao to Elland Road.

49ers Enterprises are looking to build a squad for the English top flight, and Debayo would have undoubtedly found it hard to get game time in LS11.

The 20-year-old showed glimpses of his talent in West Yorkshire, and supporters will certainly keep an eye on his development elsewhere.
