Jaka Bijol ‘set for transfer’ as Leeds United sign Lukas Nmecha
Leeds United have made their first move of the summer transfer window by securing the signing of Lukas Nmecha.
The 49ers are keen to avoid relegation from the Premier League due to the revenue that being in the English top flight brings.
That’s why they are likely to back Daniel Farke in the transfer market to help him strengthen his side with Udinese centre-back Jaka Bijol on the radar.

Bijol likely to be next transfer after Nmecha
Out of the blue, the Whites finalised the signing of Nmecha and he will move to Elland Road on a free transfer.
Leeds are understood to be keen on another striker in the transfer window despite signing the former Manchester City forward.
Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
---|---|---|---|
CSKA Moscow | 96 | 7 | 8 |
Udinese | 95 | 5 | 4 |
Hannover 96 | 31 | 0 | 0 |
Rudar Velenje | 30 | 3 | 3 |
However, the Elland Road outfit’s next signing is likely to be Bijol, if things materialise and progress in the manner they have.
Post Nmecha’s announcement, the Yorkshire Evening Post reported on 15 June that the Whites were locked in talks with Udinese to sign the Slovenia international.
Leeds may have to pay Udinese £17million in order to finalise the transfer in the coming days.

Leeds United must not waste time finalising the Bijol transfer
To expedite Bijol’s transfer from Udinese without focusing solely on transfer fee negotiations, Leeds can employ strategic approaches.
They could offer a structured payment plan, spreading the £17million fee over multiple instalments to ease Udinese’s financial concerns while ensuring compliance with Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
Including performance-based add-ons, such as bonuses for appearances or clean sheets, could further sweeten the deal without inflating the base cost.
Leeds could also leverage player exchanges, offering fringe players to reduce Udinese’s squad-building burden.
Finalising personal terms swiftly can pressure Udinese to conclude the deal to avoid losing Bijol’s commitment.
Maintaining direct and frequent communication with Udinese’s hierarchy, including the Pozzo family, can build trust and urgency, ensuring Leeds secure the 26-year-old Slovenian defender before other sides intervene.
