Jack Harrison exit clause emerges at Leeds United in new transfer update

Jack Harrison has a clause in his contract that gives him the right to go out on loan from Leeds United again this summer, according to Phil Hay for The Athletic.

The report on 29 May also reveals that one more Leeds player has the same clause in their contract – but there are no more such active clauses among the squad.

The Whites are set to be forced to offload several players this summer to remain compliant with spending rules.

How much control will Leeds United have over their summer departures?

This summer’s potential player exodus is set to look very different to the business conducted following the club’s relegation at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

A host of loan exit clauses saw Harrison join Everton, Brenden Aaronson, Robin Koch and Max Wober move to clubs in the Bundesliga and Marc Roca linked up with Real Betis – deals Leeds had no negotiating power in.

While failure to secure Premier League promotion has weakened the club’s position somewhat, the Whites will at least not be forced to accept any proposals on unfavourable terms – Harrison and this unnamed player aside – and can look to secure the best possible deals they can.

With Crysencio Summerville and other stars, such as Wilfried Gnonto, Dan James, Archie Gray and Ethan Ampadu all likely to generate significant interest over the summer, Leeds can take some small comfort in the fact that they are not compelled to sell at a price that they deem unacceptable.
