Leeds United are set to recruit specific players in the positions they need to fill in the next few days, according to agent and former left-back Ian Harte.

Speaking to Football League World (21 August), Harte – the agent of former Whites winger and current transfer target Jack Clarke – said that after several high-profile departures, new signings will be needed.

Harte didn't namedrop any players, such as Sunderland forward Clarke, but added that with Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter leaving the club, replacements have to come thick and fast.

He said: "Losing players like Gray, Summerville, and Rutter is a blow – but I think once Leeds get going, I think they will take some stopping.

"I think, obviously, over the next few days that they are going to be trying to recruit certain players in positions."

Leeds United transfers have to come quickly as deadline looms

Having little over eight days to bring in at least three replacements for three of their best players is far from the position United want to be in, and one fans didn't expect after comments from Paraag Marathe [BBC Radio Leeds, 29 May].

Marathe and the 49ers last completed a new arrival at Elland Road in the form of Jayden Bogle on 20 July – with that date now being a whopping 31 days ago at the time of writing.

Leeds United Georginio Rutter
Georginio Rutter's exit leaves Leeds United with little over a week to bring in much-needed replacements

In the period since, Summerville and Rutter's exits to West Ham and Brighton respectively have brought over £65million into the Whites' coffers, and that now has to go back in to strengthening the team.

Agreeing a deal for La Liga livewire Largie Ramazani may be a strong start to the final days of the transfer window [Fabrizio Romano, 21 August], but United's hand-sitting has seen them all-but miss out on other targets like Jonathan Rowe [HITC, 20 August].

There is no time for caution as the Peacocks pursue replacements who can come close to replicating the output of Summerville and Rutter, as another chaotic summer threatens to boil over at Elland Road.
