Leeds United know they desperately need another striker and are increasingly putting their eggs in one basket, with Che Adams the player they want as back-up for Patrick Bamford.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has been vocal about wanting to keep the player on the south coast, but he is seemingly being undermined by his board.

Athletic journalist Phil Hay said the club would prefer to let Adams move to Leeds, for a £1m fee with an obligation to buy for £10m+ at the end of the season.

The overwhelming majority of Leeds fans are sold on the move and are desperate for it to happen, but are very worried about a repeat of last January, that saw Leeds go all-out to sign Swansea's Daniel James only for the deal to collapse dramatically on deadline day.

Many fans think that was the moment that Leeds' promotion charge ended.

Leeds are still in a strong position in the Championship – second and six points clear of Brentford in third.

However, Brentford are the form team in the top three, with 10 points from the last 15. Leeds have just five and West Brom four. A repeat in the next five games would see Brentford just one point behind Leeds and West Brom.

Adams has now become the player that Leeds fans see as the solution to the Championship problem and a lot are begging Andrea Radrizzani to get the deal done.

Here are the best reactions from Leeds fans...

Che Adams isn't suddenly the miracle cure for Leeds but he would make a big difference.

He's got a great record in the Championship and the stark fact is that Leeds have one striker at the moment. That's simply not enough to maintain a promotion charge.
