Ipswich Town make Leeds bid as Joel Piroe transfer stance shared

Ipswich Town have offered Joel Piroe a new Leeds United escape route.

Piroe has been out of favour at Leeds this season, featuring just 10 times in the Premier League so far, for a total of 203 minutes.

As a result, Leeds are in the market for Jorgen Strand Larsen, and Piroe has been heavily linked with an Elland Road exit.

He could drop down to the Championship again, to help the promotion candidates, where he notched 19 goals in the Whites’ promotion campaign.

Joel Piroe’s stance on Championship move shared after Ipswich bid

Leeds ace Piroe has significant interest from the second-tier, with the Tractor Boys joining Birmingham, Southampton and Stoke in the race for his services.

Voetbal International journalist Joost Blaauwhof claimed on 27 January that Kieran McKenna’s side had made a bid for the Dutchman.

However, he stated that the player does not see the Championship as his next move, so a deal is off at the moment.

Where has it all gone wrong for Piroe at Leeds?

Unfortunately for the 26-year-old, Daniel Farke clearly does not believe in him to lead the line at the Premier League level.

He has fallen down in the pecking order at Thorp Arch behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, and the addition of Strand Larsen would surely mean an end to his Whites career.

The form of Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha, as the former has notched nine league goals and the latter has scored five, has put Piroe in an uncomfortable situation.

He has simply not been given the chance to shine, despite his wonderful exploits last season, which is a huge shame, but probably the right decision, given that the LS11 outfit are on the right track to avoid relegation at the moment.

The Peacocks are six points above the drop zone, and it is unlikely that they would have been in that position if Piroe was the man upfront, as he has not managed any contributions in his limited appearances so far.

It may be best for all parties if the player accepts his fate and takes a move to the division below before the 2 February deadline, or he will end up sitting on the bench for the majority of the campaign and being unhappy.
