Ipswich Town have just made their stance on Leif Davis clear amid Leeds United interest

Leeds United have already made substantial changes ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Defence has been a priority position for Daniel Farke, with a host of additions arriving at Elland Road.

Jaka Bijol was the first centre back through the door at Leeds and was followed by Sebastiaan Bornauw.

Now, the Whites could move for former player Leif Davis as Ipswich Town take a stance on the left back.

Ipswich reject transfer bids for Davis

Leeds have already signed a left back in Gabriel Gudmundsson, but could yet make more acquisitions in that area.

The Yorkshire outfit have had to replace Junior Firpo, who departed from Real Betis, leaving a significant hole in Farke’s backline.

Davis was touted as a possible replacement for Firpo, having been relegated to the Championship with Ipswich.

The 25-year-old departed Elland Road for the Tractor Boys in 2022, having made 14 appearances for the Peacocks.

Last term, the Englishman was one of a handful of Ipswich players who maintained his reputation despite the East Anglian club’s failings.

Ipswich have turned down bids for the left back from the Premier League, according to Mike McGrath (7 August).

The Daily Telegraph journalist reports that Davis has been on the shortlist of clubs looking at left-backs after the 2024/25 campaign in the Premier League.

However, Kieran McKenna’s side are determined to have him as part of their Championship promotion campaign, but more offers are expected.

Where would Davis fit in Farke’s Leeds United side?

Farke currently has Gudmundsson and Sam Byram as options at left back, meaning there is already competition in his position.

However, Davis would be an upgrade on Byram, meaning he could be ousted to make way for the Ipswich man.

Gudmundsson is currently the first choice and is expected to play in the Premier League opener against Everton.

Farke will want more quality within his squad, though, meaning Leeds’ former defender would be an appealing option.

Ipswich would likely drive a high price, which could put off the Yorkshire club, but he would be worth a punt.
