Illan Meslier transfer could be next as £17.5m package agreement revealed

Illan Meslier may be in the final 24 hours of his Leeds United career.

Daniel Farke has made it very clear that Meslier has no playing future at Elland Road, with his contract running out in the upcoming summer.

Karl Darlow is currently first choice, ahead of Brazilian Lucas Perri, who could return to the starting side against Nottingham Forest after yet more errors.

Meslier is wanted by Besiktas this week, and it could represent the final chance to make any profit for the Whites in LS11.

But, after suggestions that the move was blocked, the door could be opening again at Elland Road.

Besiktas busy as transfer window clock ticks

Besiktas aren’t messing around, it seems.

With the Turkish transfer window open until Friday, they have another 24 hours to get deals over the line.

According to Liam Keen of the Express and Star, they have agreed a £17.5million package to sign Wolves defender Emmanuel Agbadou.

Wolves are starting to clear the decks ahead of their inevitable relegation and will make £1m profit on the Ivorian defender.

That follows Jorgen Strand Larsen, who was sold to Crystal Palace over Leeds on deadline day.

Leeds need to clear deadwood with Meslier deal first

Despite no playing career being left for the keeper at Leeds, Farke apparently blocked Meslier’s exit last week.

But several Turkish accounts with close links to Besiktas now claim that talks have reopened over a late deal, something that should suit all parties.

The deal for Agbadou is clearly taking centre-stage right now, but if time allows, Meslier could certainly be next to make the move before their deadline on 6 February.

Now, it’s the perfect time for all parties.

Looking at the stats via Sofascore, Perri and Darlow haven’t exactly set the world alight, so Meslier not getting a sniff ahead of them says all you need to know.

Leeds need to start shipping out these players who are making next to no impact in the Premier League, especially after their clear problems with PSR.

It makes no sense to keep the likes of Meslier, who himself would surely prefer to be elsewhere with a greater chance of actually getting on the pitch.

Should Besiktas complete a deal for Agbadou quickly, all eyes will then go to Meslier.
