Illan Meslier tipped for ‘interesting’ career move as Leeds contract ticks down
Illan Meslier looks set to leave Leeds on a free transfer this summer, and has already been tipped to return to France.
That is according to Foot Mercato, who report that Meslier is “attracting attention” ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
As it stands, Meslier has fallen far down Daniel Farke’s pecking order, with the Frenchman still yet to play a game in any competition this season.
The 26-year-old has only seen the pitch on two occasions, with both of them coming for Leeds’ under-21s in the Premier League 2.
Due to that, it comes as no surprise that the 49ers have not decided to offer Meslier a new contract, a decision which will now end his seven-year spell in LS11 this summer.

Who could Illan Meslier join in the summer window?
Meslier was tipped for a move to Turkey in the winter transfer window, but Leeds decided to hold off on letting him leave.
While he may not play, the Peacocks will still need him around in the event of an injury or suspension to either Lucas Perri or Karl Darlow.
This season has no doubt stunted his growth as a player, and he will be looking to put his career back on track with his next move.
And according to Foot Mercato, joining a “modest Ligue 1 team could be an interesting rebound” for the Leeds shot-stopper.
Additionally, former club Lorient did keep tabs on the Frenchman last summer, and with the Brittany-based club currently sitting in 10th, they could fit the bill for that sort of outfit.

Why Leeds may be set for a goalkeeper overhaul in the summer
At the moment, while Darlow has been impressing for the Whites, the Welshman is 35 years old, and Leeds may have to bring in a younger goalkeeper.
Darlow’s contract is also set to expire at the end of the current season.
Additionally, Perri has not exactly been a success at Elland Road since his move from Lyon in the summer, and the Brazilian may also be seen as replaceable, especially after interest during the winter window.
With Meslier leaving and potentially one of Darlow or Perri on the chopping block, Farke could end up going into the upcoming transfer window needing two new goalkeepers.
However, for now, the focus will remain on securing another season in the Premier League, as those transfer targets could vary quite differently if Leeds are relegated.
