Ian Poveda sends four-word message as image shows him signing deal to quit Leeds United

Ian Poveda has sent a four-word message following his loan move from Leeds United to Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

As per the official Whites website (1 February), the winger joined the Owls for the remainder of the season on Deadline Day.

The 23-year-old made 10 appearances in all competitions this season under Daniel Farke before his move to Hillsborough.

And the attacker has now taken to Instagram to share an update on the transfer, with Poveda posting a picture of him signing his Sheffield Wednesday contract, with the words: “Better late than never.”

Late loan

There were a lot of late moves in the Championship, with clubs scrambling to get deals over the line on transfer Deadline Day.

Poveda to Hillsborough was one such move, with the winger calling time on his Elland Road career for the time being.

Having joined the Whites in January 2020, the player played a minor role in the club’s promotion to the Premier League.

But first-team minutes have not exactly been forthcoming in more recent times, with Poveda loaned to both Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool during his time at Leeds.

The attacker will now be keen to land regular football, and given his experience and potential, and indeed his new club’s current struggles, that should not be a problem.

Leeds United

The Owls currently sit 23rd in the Championship table, with Poveda set to provide them with a fresh perspective in their relegation fight.

Manager Danny Rohl would be wise to get the attacker into his team as soon as possible as they look to climb up the standings.

In other Leeds United news, there is hope for the reset of one Whites player as talks continue at Elland Road.
